~Salted Caramel - Oh-la-la!~

Sweet, and Savory Salted Caramel -
One of my all time favorite addictions!

The combination has it's roots in France, and a couple years ago made it to the mass market in America. I recently have been spotting this sweet and savory dessert in some of my favorite places. The combo is amazing, and if you haven't tried it yet, I strongly recommend to run out and indulge in some sweetness this weekend!

Some of my favorite places to find Salted-Caramel:

Sweet Republic
Salted Butter Caramel ice cream
This Arizona local treat has even been featured in magazines such as Sunset as one of their top picks!
soft buttery caramel ribbons in creamy vanilla with a sprinkle of salt

LGO - La Grande Orange
Salty Chocolate Chip Cookie - YUMMY
4410 N. 40th Street Phoenix

Postino's
Salted Caramel Sundae - AMAZING!
Vanilla bean ice cream with chocolate covered corn nuts,
a pretzel stick and salted caramel
3939 E Campbell Rd
Phoenix, AZ

Trader Joe's
Salted Caramel Chocolate - I find it by the check out line, it is an amazing piece of chocolate!

Also check out your local Starbucks, they have a new salted caramel bar and it is delish! (pretzels are hidden inside-yum).

For any of you that feel like making some yummy goodness this weekend...here is a recipe I came across about a year ago, and made it my own, and it comes out delicious every time! I like to dip pretzels in it, spread on toast, and my favorite is dipping fresh apple slices in it! Enjoy!

Gooey Salted Caramel Spread
Ingredients
  • 1.5 cups sugar
  • 3 - 4 tablespoons of water
  • 2 sticks + 1 tablespoon butter cut into small pieces
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6.5 oz of warmed cream
Directions

1. Stir the sugar and water in a saucepan, and cook on low heat until it turns golden brown.Do not mix a lot or it will harden too much.
2.Slowly add butter, until all melted and gooey.
3. Add salt, and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
4. Remove the saucepan from the heat, and add the warmed cream. Stir together until all combined.
5. Pour into containers to cool till room temperature, then refrigerate.
And spread on the love! :)
